About the Author

L.A. Batista is a retired speech therapist and published children’s author whose work has helped young learners explore language through creativity and compassion. Her seasonal Idioms series—Falling for Idioms, Spring Into Idioms, Cool Idioms, and Summertime Idioms—blends rhyming and figurative language to spark classroom discussions and build phonemic awareness.

In her memoir, Falling, she shares the raw and resonant story of her lifelong journey with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)—a condition that has tested her mobility, strength, and spirit. Through both literal and emotional falls, she offers insight with clarity and warmth, drawing readers into a story of quiet bravery, enduring love, and the strength it takes to rise again and again.
